This is bringing me back to 2007-2010 eras where we had to run powershell commands to retract and remove farm solution.

Can someone remind me, if i do a retract and remove, would it delete all the webparts and features which already been deployed to the farm or would they still stay in there?

You can use upgrade solution command.
