A coworker of mine developed an Azure Resource Manager (ARM) script to deploy a couple of Azure VMs. He used the SQL Server extensions to configure the SQL Server 2012 with the ultimate goal being to extend our on-premise AOAG environment into Azure with two more replicas.

At some point, we believe from the start of the install, we began getting a warning message in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application that stated "Login failed for user domain\computername$. Reason: Could not find a login matching the name provided. [CLIENT: <local machine>]" (Source = MSSQLSERVER). In addition, the Administrative Events had errors that indicated the same ("Login failed for user domain\computername$").
