Hi All, 

I have been struggling with trying to get Azure site recovery working on a clean-install of Essentials 2016 with all updates. I get as far as trying to enable the protection on an individual VM...it appears to be processing this for a while, then dies with 'unknown error'. From the dashboard logs, it seems to be some type of certificate problem. The <AddVMHost> step fails with Authtype is invalid in resource certificate.

I can't find any information on similar problems - I tried downloading the agent, and generating and installing vault credentials manually. This also fails with a 'credentials invalid' message.

I know that time/date errors on servers can mess with this but that is all correct.

At a loss and wasted many hours- any clues?

• make sure that Virtual Machines in Hyper-V that you want to protect cannot have any spaces or special characters in the name
• try to update vault registration key
