ORDER BY CONVERT(NUMERIC(8,2), LEFT(TextData, PATINDEX('%[A-Za-z]%', TextData) -1))



Results:
1. query:

TextData        T.Sta.  Number
1.03 zamp	6	1.03
1.10 test	6	1.10
1.4 aa		5	1.40
2.2 zz		5	2.20

2. query:

TextData
1.03 zamp
