I get an error message "documentviewer.msi" installation box and subsequent request to continue by loading a CD to complete.  I have no idea how or why I am getting this error when I am unable to complete the install ... any help / solutions out there?

To better understand your error, could you please send to [e-mail] the following information:

 

1.  Which viewer were you trying to install, the XPS Essentials Pack or the .Net Framework viewer? 

 

2. Which operating system you were trying to install on (including what Service Pack you're running)?

 

3. What language were you trying to download?

 

4. Have you ever had a previous version of an XPS Viewer installed on your machine?  If yes, do you know which one?

 

5. If possible, please send a screenshot of the error message you're seeing.

 

6. If you were trying to install the XPS Essentials Pack, and if possible, please send us the install log.

 

If running Vista, it's located here:  c:\windows\windowsupdate.log

 

If running XP, do the following:

 

a. Opening a command prompt

b. run -  <xpsep_setup.exe> /l* <logfile.log>

 

<xpsep_setup.exe> is the setup name that you downloaded from the web site (you will need to change the command prompt directory to point to wherever this file is)

 

<logfile.log> can be any filename that you want to put the log file, ususaly put c:\xpsep.log  

 

(ex. C:\temp\xpsep\"XPSEP XP and Server 2003 32 bit.msi" /l*vx xpsep.ui.log)
