SharePoint Online is fairly different to the onsite SharePoint powershell you might be used to:

However with your current permissions you cannot run powershell:

"A SharePoint Online site administrator cannot use any cmdlets unless he or she is a global administrator in Office 365."

Here's the command to add a user to a SharePoint group, you might be able to write the script for your Global admin and get them to run it: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161371.aspx
