I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the Tasks Gantt to display the current date (today) instead of it defaulting back to the original start date of the project. Attached a pic for reference.  The select time period is blanked out too.

Is there an easy way to do this? Other than selecting 'scroll to task'.

There is no immediate way to jump to today's date in the task page. I think you'll get to the last place you've been last time you opened the task page. Then doing some custom code might work for automatically trigerring "scroll to task" when accessing the task page.
