Hi,

I have a UCCA application which will be used to communicate with other OCS users. Upon log in; this application posts the user's presence as available. When a newly created user logs in using this UCCA application, it's presence is not being posted. The user is able to get incoming sessions and is able to initiate sessions but appears offline.

Strangely, once this newly created user account is logedin (then loged out) using Office Communicator the UCCA application will be able to post presence from that point on.

It appears there may be some sort of first time initiation of a new user which Office Communicator does, but I did not find any documentation.

All information regarding this matter is much apprechiated.

When you first enable a user for OCS, there is some simple provisioning that the OCS admin code does to define the user in the OCS DB and tell the AddressBook service to get data for the user from AD.  However there is a a lot of other setup (creating containers, etc.) the Communicator does for the user the first time that they log in.

This has to happen before your application can publish presence.  You can either have the user log in to OC at least once or you can write a UCMA application that creates a UserEndpoint for the user and publishes presence on their behalf.  If you do this then the UCMA code has the provisioning embedded and will take care of doing that work the first time that the UserEndpoint publishes presence.
