I am writing CodedUI tests for a legacy VB6 application and I am having issues getting the values contained in labels. I am aware that label controls in VB6 were lightweight controls and didn't have their own handles so they don't show up in UISpy or the Inspect tool. However other test automation tools (QTP and Rationale) are able to get the values of labels from VB6 applications so there must be some way to get these values. What are these other tools using to access the values in VB6 labels.
