I have a question regarding how to make certain areas of a diagram/flowchart appear "faded" without using the individual transparency setting for each box. I inherited some charts at work, where it looks like someone has made parts of the map inactive (I am unable to link a Picture because forums).

It looks like parts of the chart are in a different layer, for things "inactive", but I cannot find anything about a layering feature like that.

I have checked all that I can Think of; the boxes have their transparency set to 0 %, and there is no difference in "Shape Format" between the blue ones and the others except for full color. I have also tried layering but this just removes things from sight rather than giving a faded look.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

What do you mean about "faded"? Do you mean some shapes are not displayed normally in the drawing? If possible, would you mind to share some pictures or sample file via OneDrive for further information? Notice to remove the personal information on the drawing for sharing.

Additionally, please check if there are multiple layers for this drawing:

In Visio Home tab, go to Editing group, click Layers > Layer Properties, check if any layer is inactive or set with specific color.
