Hi,

I am facing an issue with the Coded UI Test Builder.

When recording of a Coded UI test is started, the Coded UI Test Builder appears. But, the 'Start Recording' button, 'Show recorded steps' button and Coded UI Test Builder frame is not visible.

However, using the 'Tab' and 'Shift+Tab' keys, control can be set to 'Start Recording', 'Show recorded steps' and other buttons in the CUIT Builder, and user is able to record and generate the script.

 

VSTS 2010, along with the AUT is installed on a Virtual machine and the OS is Windows XP.

This problem occurred when the above mentioned virtual machine is copied and installed on a Windows 7 physical machine for another user.

I noticed you have a problem with Coded UI Test Builder.

 

I think this issue may be caused by the follows:

1. Visual Studio did not update to sp1.

2. The software’s version of virtual machine did not the same.

 

Due to above reason, I recommend that you should do as follows:

·         Please refer to : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983509

This link described a known issue of creating Coded UI Test in solutions have a setup project which has been solved in VS 2010 SP1. Please search for "CodedUITest" to find doc that particular issue is solved. 

·         Update/re-install the software of virtual machine on windows 7 to make sure it has a same version with the one on windows XP.
