I am trying to develop an integration between SharePoint Online and an application a customer is hosting on site. The 3rd party application supports single-sign-on with AD, but can also support other LDAP schemes if that makes any difference. The idea is that the user is logged into SharePoint Online with their windows credentials, and those would be passed in some way to the application for its own validation without the user having to sign on again, get some data, and pass it back to SharePoint Online. I know this is possible when both SharePoint and the other application are both on-site, but I don't know if or how it would work in this scenario.
