I'm, Developer . and dp not have that much knowlede of Exchange server and its architecture.
I have used pop3 architecture / concept / code to retrieve user emails.
It works perfectly fine with gmail pop3 server. i.e. pop3.gmail.com

I'm not familiar enough with the programming side of accessing POP servers so i can't check your code but i can tell you that exchange does implement POP3 standard protocols so it should be a problem if it works with other POP3 servers. However in exchange POP3 is disabled by default so your client will need to enable and configure POP3 on the exchange server for you.
