I have recently bought a new PC and upgraded the software from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Since the upgrade, the following dialogue has been popping up:

This dialogue pops up right after log in for several different programs such as SmartMenu.exe, CCC.exe, and MOM.exe. I am assuming this is related to a problem that occurs when I try to boot event viewer and the following error pops up: MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly. Name: Event Viewer CLSID: FX:{b05566ad-fe9c-4363-be05-7a4cbb7cb510}.

I have tried to remedy this situation by reinstalling .NET, by using the dotnetfx_cleanup_tool, and then by installing .NET 4.  I have tried almost everything short of manually uninstalling and reinstalling.
