Is it possible to access, claim, open, etc. a POS Printer on a different computer on the same network?  In VB.NET, would I just input the remote path somewhere?  I read Yort's article about sharing devices and I'm just wondering if that's the only route to go...  If you can access all the information about the device via WMI, shouldn't you be able to claim it and use it in VB.NET?  Thanks

Hi, As far as I know, it isn't possible to claim/use a Pos .Net device remotely using WMI (although I'm not totally sure). Even if you could, it would likely not perform well enough for real world applications though, since the Pos .Net interfaces tend to be very "chatty". Assuming it did work (and perhaps one reason it wasn't implemented), it would also be interesting to know how fault tolerant it is... i.e if you claim a device remotely and then drop your network connection or something along those lines is the device then left claimed and unusable by anything else until some service is restarted ?
