Even though you can find a lot of books, I am sure that PHP is a very rudimentary too much of ad-hoc wanna-be-language, not something serious. It does not really deserve writing a book, so I'm not sure that any books on this topic deserve spending money on it. I am sure the best way to learn and use PHP is just using the original documentation and nothing else.

Actually, the main benefit of PHP is that the even the cheapest Web hosting plans will support it, unlike any other server-side technology. And if you have to change the hosting provider, you can easily do it without much fear of compatibility problems in your old PHP scripts. :-)
