What is better for data synchronization, SQL Replication or Sync framework?
We have requirement of data synchronization between a application running on PC (which is put on truck) which goes out of plant to perform delivery and application running in the plant.
Truck goes out of the plant for performing some operations, the operations details are logged by the PC application into some database. When that truck comes back to the plant, their is an requirement of synchronizing the data of truck PC application with the main plant application.
We are evaluating various options for data synchronization.
We got two related approach for data synchronization.
First one is sync framework. And second one is SQL Server Replication.
Which one to use in which scenario?
We need comparisons of both these approach in terms of which approach to use for following scenarios, so it will help us in deciding the approach:
-> Frequency of data synchronization
-> Amount of data to be synchronize
-> What if database on truck and databse on plant are different? For eg. truck has SQL Server Express database and plant has DB2 database.
-> Security
-> Reliability
-> Time of connectivity required
-> Performance
-> Complexity of implementation
-> Flexibility in conflict detection and resolution
-> Any other
