How would I go about color coding text based on conditions in the date.  Late items are red, or bold etc.  Seems like a very common use case but can't find an example.

I agree that this is a very common requirement, & this is something that has been discussed in this forum a few times now, but unfortunately there is nothing built-in, in V1, to enable you to do it. We're hoping this will improve in V2+

If you're proficient with SliverLight controls, there are programmatic ways of getting down to that level, or you could create a custom SilverLight control & use that instead. I don't know of any off the top of my head, but there may be a 3rd party control that will allow you to do this as well.

So the reason you couldn't "find" any way to do it, is that there *isn't* one built into the product, even though it's a very reasonable assumption that there would be.
