I'm not to tech savvy, but when I cut and paste any URL into the address bar, IE8 crashes.  Is there a fix for this?

The fix I found on another web site is to enable autocomplete for web addresses. It's under tools\internet options\content\settings\autocomplete. The problem I am having is that I can't enable it, because mine is grayed out. I am an admin on my computer and I don't think there is a policy in effect, so what gives?
