I have created a custom stencil with several network shapes. I then edited the master shapes and edited the shape data (shape custom). I also created shape data sets (called pattern) with additional data.  Once I drag the shape into the canvas, I then assign the shape data set (pattern) to the shape. I have been testing this with a few shapes (about 3).  I then enter all the data into the two shape data (both custom and pattern). I have also added data graphics to the shapes.  From here I extract the shape data to various reports I have created.

The problem arises when I reopen the visio, the shape data does not load and I loose a whole lot of the shape data. It is inconsistent with the number of shapes. Sometimes its only partial of one shape and then gets progressively worse to the point that I loose most the shape data.  It seems that it either has not loading the data correct.  Sometimes when I open the file it's fine and then once it's lost data it gets progressively worse.

Does the issue only occur to the particular file created with the custom stencil? Have you tried creating a new drawing with the default stencil to see if it can work as expected?
