The new V4 driver will be compatible with XP or should I keep 2 separate driver? If it is not compatible is there a way to retain a unique driver (WHQL certifiable) for OS from XP to 8?

The new V4 driver model is great but the older OSs cannot interpret it correctly since they don't know about V4.  Windows 8 will still read V3 drivers as part of the long transition to moving to the newer model.  So if you want to use a single driver for all the OSs you should continue to use V3.  Perf is better with V4 and its better with the modern apps, but sounds like that won't have the results you need.
