This is possible. But to achieve Single-Sign-On (SSO) between your application and OWA, you'll need to deploy both behind some type of authentication which supports SSO. OWA's Forms Based Authentication (FBA) which is used by default does not support SSO with other application. Some examples of authentication forms which do support SSO are:
