We already have a VSTO model oriented outlook add-in in our desktop clients. Features inside the add-in is tightly coupled with send button - all the validations will happen when the user tries to send the composed mail.

Currently we are trying to migrate this to the new office add-in model and facing lot of problems.

1. Mail Apps can work only with Exchange profiles. You just need to continue developing an existing VSTO based solution if you want to cover all scenarios.
