I have no luck running any of the quickstarts from the sdk. I keep receiving the error "This operation has timed out." I specify _userName, _userPassword, _userDomain, _userURI and _userServer variables to no avail. Communicator 2007 R2 successfully connects to OCS but Communicator uses automatic configuration, I don't specify server address in communicator configuration. Is it something about that? If so, how can I use automatic configuration with the samples?

If you are using the UCMA SDK samples, then you need to do the application provisioning before you run the applications that use ApplicationEndpoint.  You also need to insure that you have a valid cert for your server if you are using TLS as the transport.  Take a look at the help file at the Application Provisioner and at the section on "Deploying a UCMA 2.0 Core Application".
