I have both Visual Basic 6.0 and Visual Studio 2010 installed on my machine. No problem so far.

In any case, within VS 2010, what is launched will depend on what is the current Source Code Control Provider/Plugin (SCCP) or what SCCP your project/solution is bound to.  From within VS 2010, with the "bound" project / solution open, go to File -> Source Control -> Change Source Control.  Does that dialog appear it is from Visual SourceSafe 2005?

With the open project/solution, you can also check Tools -> Options -> Source Control in the options to make sure it says you are using Visual SourceSafe 2005 within the SCCP drop down.
