Hi,

I'm trying to find a way to add a custom location into the 'Open' view in office applications. The functionality I need is exactly the same as the Google Drive plugin for office (see https://tools.google.com/dlpage/driveforoffice), but obviously for my own custom location).

I assume VSTO is the way to go for this? I've Googled for advice and looked through the APIs but cannot find any information on how this is achieved.

Is anybody able to steer me in the right direction?

Hello,

On the screenshot, I see a backstage button added by Google developers. And yes, VSTO is one of the possible options among others (Add-in Express and shared add-ins, or just unmanaged). See Walkthrough: Creating Your First VSTO Add-in for Word to get started quickly. 

VSTO allows to customize the Fluent UI (aka Ribbon UI) by using one of the following ways:

1. Walkthrough: Creating a Custom Tab by Using the Ribbon Designer
