I have project that combined Expression Encoder with backed Windows Media Services progamming. No exactly unusual IMO.
My server code worked fine until we upgraded to Server 2008 R2 64bit. Despite hours of testing every approach I can think of, there does not appear to be a way to interop with Windows Media Services on that platform using .NET code. Futhermore, Server 2008 R2 64 does not come with a 64bit verison of microsoft.windowsmediaservices.dll (if anyone has one please let me know how I would go about obaining that) or that it is not registered or.... It appears that this server platform is no longer viable for Windows Media Server development. Am I wrong and that someone can suggest an approach? I really really hope this has not be deprecated
If anyone has had ANY success and can relay how they resolved this I would be grateful for their assistance (a case of good canadian beer?).

Solved!!! I'll post some more details after I have rested! But, so far:
1) Compile the Application on the Exact Target Server (ie Server 2008 R2 64bit). I'm not sure at this point whether there is an alternative to that (i.e. on Windows 7 64).
2) Use IP addresses for the media server for testing (until you have determined the DNS is actually is working!!!). That slowed me down considerably.
3) Reference the microsoft.windowsmediaservices_blahblah interop fromthe C:\windows\winxs directory. I used the amd64 one ending with 1654.dll
4) Have coffee on hand!
