We've just upgraded from TFS 2015.3 to 2015.4, and everything went well except for one SharePoint related issue. Although I've reconfigured TFS's SharePoint integration and made it point to the correct web application, I found several entries in the upgrade log with TFS complaining about not being able to connect to certain SharePoint sites, which makes sense because those sites do no longer exist:

"(...) +-+-+-+-+-| Verifying SharePoint Logging |+-+-+-+-+-

(...) Located Following Admin Url: (pointing to some stale URL)

(...) Located Following Wss Root Url: (pointing to some other stale URL)

(...) +-+-+-+-+-| Verify existing sharepoint settings |+-+-+-+-+-

(...) [Warning@...] TF255329: The following site could not be accessed: (pointing to the above stale URLs) (...)"

Is there a way to remove these stale settings from SharePoint's configuration database?

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for posting here.

I cannot find a way to delete the incorrect entries directly from SP database.

Anyway, please check if the related SharePoint configuration of the tfs is correct. Application tier --> SharePoint Web Applications and  Application tier --> Team project collection --> SharePoint site

The web part still refers to the old site. It may be a cache issue, try to clean the TFS cache both in your client machine and SharePoint server.

If the issue still exists, give a try with uninstalling the TFS extensions for SharePoint and reinstall it, which may do the trick. More details please refer this thread: Use the same SharePoint site for TFS that you have right now

I think it’s not matter if you have been updated the TFS already and there are no any other issues in further using, it’s just show the error message in the upgrade log file. This may be caused by the SharePoint configure caches. That means if you clean the caches first before upgrading, then maybe cannot encounter this issue.
