About 2 days ago, my Visual Studio suddenly became slow and unresponsive when I click on certain controls. I have a checkbox with a button style, and when I click on it, the properties never show up - it's always just blank. Often it just stops responding and I have to go into the Task Manager to close it and restart. I have tried restarting many many times and restarted the computer at least twice. Other programs are fine. What can I do?

As you said that it works fine before. Have you installed any third-party packages or add-ins or extensions into your Windows or VS IDE?

Does this situation occur if you create any type of project?

For this issue, I suggest you could take the following steps to troubleshoot this issue:

• Please go to Control Panel – uninstall a program – select VS – right click "change" – click "repair" to repair your visual studio to see if it helps.
• Try to update your VS to the latest version and make sure all Windows Update is up-to-date.
• Navigate to <Visual Studio Installation Path>\Common7\IDE (by default is C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE), and run the following commands: Devenv.exe /SafeMode. If in safe mode, you can see properties of button and not freeze. I suspect that it is related to the extensions. For that, go to Tools -> Extensions and Updates, to uninstall all the extensions.
