I am working on a project where we're trying to set a standard to the structure of documents.
Because of this my question is basically two questions that depend on each other.
The first question is about what library I should use and how could I achieve a document folder that can be locked from being edited? The folder itself with its metadata, and the contents, should not be editable after the folder is locked. Reading is still okay though.
The other question is about how to enforce a structure on said folder. For example I wish the root to only contain folders, and each folder must contain a main document and anything else must be added as attachments. The main folders also contain the metadata required. This way each case will have its own folder and each case will have a main document along with several attachments if necessary.
Our app is being built for SharePoint 2013 on Office 365, so the editing and hacking abilities on the server side are limited. This means it's required that we use the API provided.

You need to set unique permission to the folders and the items inside the folder inherits the parent permission. Set the folder permission to read only. Refer to the following post for more information
