i really need an advice! i'm going to creat global project like icq or skype. i mean, i'll have many the same functions, like icq and skype.

but the main question: will it be enought to learn wpf for creating such applications? or there are some other platforms or languages? i'm going to try Visual Studio 2010 Premium. does it good decision for this work?

by the way, does anybody know something about SQL? will i be able to use SQL Servers for register users on wpf?

WPF is just for the user interface and Visual Studio is one of the IDE to create user interfaces using wpf. If you really want to create an application like icq/skype you might also need to learn about web services/WCF.

SQL servers are db management systems. Usage of this depends on how to really approach your solution.
