We are trying to remove done tasks from one of our team's kanban boards. Our limit of work items on the board is capped at 1000. 1. You can remove the Done work items, by changing the State of a work item to Removed, you effectively remove it from all backlogs and boards, they are not counted in the limits.The removed work items are not deleted; you can query them by the state ‘Removed’
2. You can also delete the Done work items, deleted work items won't appear in your backlogs, boards, or queries. Deleted items are moved to a recycle bin from which you can recover them if needed.
3. If all the done work items are not useful anymore, you can also permanently delete them.
4. In addition, you can also reset the number of the limits accordingly in Kanban board as needed.
