Just installed search server 2008 express - and it works, kinda..

If i search for the document 00006dsc.jpg it finds it - if i search for 00006 or 00006* it finds nothing..

If i cant search on part of filenames its kinda useless...

What do i do wrong?

I had the same problem.. works as desinged.

But you could use a plugin.

I have installed the following http://www.codeplex.com/WildcardSearch

Installation:

1) Install DotNet Framework 3.5 on Server
2) Download and unzip the plugin to a temp-folder
3) read the "readme" file
4) after the installation from the readme I had to add the webpart manually by uploading it to the results.aspx page
