When using a sub file and adding it to a video i find that the caption will only display when watching the video after the player has settled on a bit rate... if i place a caption at the start its not viewable untill i have watched the video once and then re-watch it so that its cached. What can i do so that i can add sub/dfxp file to my videos and have the captions play right from the start?

The captions are added to the players after they start. It takes a couple of seconds to parse that data in. Once the player time has passed a caption, it wont be displayed. There isn't a way to get a 0 timestamped caption to play except to restart the video or pause at the beginning and then play.
