With regard to your specific issue, are you sure you checked EnablePrefetcher in the current control set, rather than a numbered control set that may not be the current one? (IOW, [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher], rather than e.g. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet00x\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher].)
