I have a user experiencing long details in saving queries (personal and shared). He clicks the Save button and it seems to hang.  It eventually completes after about 30 minutes or more.  If he saves the query to a new name, it works right away.  However saving a modification to an existing query just spins.   He gets the same behavior on Firefox, Chrome and IE.   It also seems the same between different team projects.   We have tried clearing his browser cache, clearing his TFS cache and the ever faithful - "have to tried turning off and turning it on again" :-)  

We are running TFS 2015 Update 3.  We have a large user base.  However, this is the first time anyone has reported this problem.  

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you for posting here.

Which client are you used to save or modify the queries, web portal via browser or Visual Studio?

You can have a check for you client computer, the client computer might not be configured to automatically detect the link speed of its network adapter. This setting might decrease performance between the client computer and Visual Studio Team Foundation Server.

Please see Configure a network adapter to automatically adjust speed to enable automatic detection of the link speed for the network adapter.

In addition, there is a feedback here about the work item query, you can try to run the update statistics commands mentioned in it to check whether it can resolve your issue.

If you are using the VS and the problem cannot be resolved by above ways, then you can try to reference this article to resolve the slow performance issue.
