I just tried to run the Best Practices Analyzer v1.1 on a multi server installation, but it failed with the message "Unable to perform best practices analyzing because the analyzer could not connect to BizTalk Managmeent Database".

 

The SQL server is on a separate server and running 4 instances. My BizTalk server is connected to one of those

instances.

From the BizTalk server I have logged on to the SQL server with the account the BPA is running and that was no problem, so the connectivity is fine.

 

On the download page I found the following:

"You may need to explicitly set some Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) permissions before you can use the Best Practices Analyzer in a distributed environment, where SQL Server is not installed on the same computer as BizTalk Server.
This is because when the Best Practices Analyzer tries to connect to a remote computer running SQL Server, WMI may not have sufficient access to determine whether SQL Server Agent is running. This may result in incorrect best practices evaluations."

 

I've checked for the WMI settings and the administrator group has access to everything and the account BizTalk (and the BPA) is running under is member of the local admin group on both machines.

So I expect this to work.

Besides that, the message on the download page suggests I would get incorrect evaluations, not connectivity problems.

 

Anyone any idea why this wouldn't work?

What about "BizTalk Server Administrators" group, I mean Could you please make sure that the user is part of "BizTalk Server Administrators" group?
