I tried logging in from VS2017 Community to refresh my credentials because my trial Community license expired.  The only unusual change in my circumstances is that I'm currently in Zurich and normally work from England.  This is about the 6th time this morning I've tried to authenticate myself.  The first time MS sent me a 7-digit security code which I entered, without reporting an error.

But the VS authentication will not authenticate me not matter what.  It returns a message box saying :

An error occurred while sending the request.

What's wrong with this?  30 seconds before trying to refresh my VS2017 credentials, I logged in here. So some MS authentication server, somewhere, must be working.
