How can I change the input resolution from the default 320x240 when recording live broadcasts.

I have a Hi-8 feed from a camcorder coming in at 720x576 (it's PAL-I) and I'm trying to write the output to a file keeping the 720x576 resolution.

I've tried just stretching the output resolution to 720x576 from 320x240, but the quality is very poor. If I could set the input resolution to 720x576 I'd be happy !
