I just downloaded Visual Studio Community for Mac and I've tried to build and debug a very basic vb.net console project. I get this error:

Error MSB3082: Task failed because "vbc.exe" was not found. (MSB3082) (HelloWorld)

Isn't it suppose to create the .exe file when being built? I looked in the bin\debug folder but it's empty. Any suggestions on what to do?

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

It seems this issue is about the VS Community for Mac development, usually we can report it in here through the ‘Report a problem’ button for a more professional support, since our forum is to discuss the VS IDE, thank you for your understanding.

Some other community members reported other similar issue and you can check the vbproj file. If your issue persists, please try to report it like I recommended before.

Refer to the error message, I found others shared that the ‘vbc.exe’ file shipped with Mono 5.10 or later per this.
