I want to stream audio to internet end users using the pull function. I have expression encoder 4 pro and iis7 installed on the system and am running vista ultimate (32bit)... What I would like to do is to post a url (example: http://IP-ADDRESS:8080 or mms://IP-ADDRESS:8080 ) that people can simply click on and in turn it opens up their windows media player and plays the live stream.... The problem I'm having is that this is so far only accomplished through the local network (meaning that I have to use the IP-address that the router assigns and cannot use the one that my ISP has assigned to me) and I cannot server this function to the internet. I am using port-forwarding via the router, I have all of the firewall settings in check... I believe there is something I'm missing as far as configuring the iis7 is concerned... Please help~!

With Pull streaming the encoder system must have a externally accessible IP address (i.e. from viewers on the Internet + your server). If it does not you are completely out of luck. In general, I use push streaming with my application (www.unitecast.com) as this does not require a fixed address. This has proven very reliable as long as the network the encoder is on is stable. Also, this eliminates many firewall issues. If you do setup for Pull streaming I recommend a static address (none changeable) as variances in the encoder IP address will torpedo your webcast.There are services that provide static address (noip for example) but I have not needed to use them up to this point. So, I can't verify the usability.
