I run AppFabric caching on machine that is going to be not only for cache but for other applications also. Is there a way to configure appFabric caching to reserve amount of memory and prevent other applications to take that memory. For example, on machine that has 2 GB of Ram I want that on that machine AppFabric always has 1 GB of Ram and that other applications use the rest.

We do not have such provision for reserving the memory for cache service when it starts. Cache service allocates memory on demand. We can only limit (or configure) the maximum memory that the cache service can use. By default cache service uses 50% of the system memory. It is recommended that cache service should be installed on a machine where no other service consumes lot of memory.
