I'm having a problem with being prompted to download an smi file, when I'm expecting a standard SOAP response, displayed in IE, from a webservice call. This has only just started happening. I have not added any new software or anything. I need to go back to the original Soap response as it's also affecting the addition of webservice references in Visual studio 2005...a bit of a problem!

How are you making the web service call?  Are you using the ASMX test page?

What problems are you running into exactly when using Visual Studio 2005?  Can you not add web references?  What error messages do you see?
