I have a content type attached to this document library in subsite 'A-1'.

The content type is a form that takes its document template from a document library in the parent site 'A'. The assigned document template itself is tied to a site collection feature in 'A', so to update the form, I have to deactivate the feature (which deletes the template), publish the new template to the library, and then reactivate it.

Data entry into the form is accomplished through a web part on its own page in the subsite 'A-1'.

The problem I am having is this: when I update the form template, the web part in 'A-1' does not use it. It continues to display the old version of the form template.

The document template in 'A', when brought up for editing in SharePoint, shows the new version. After submission, viewing the submitted form shows it as the new version. However, it shows the old version if I attempt to edit the document in the browser from the 'A' document library.

The new version of the form adds a new drop-down list and replaces several text boxes with drop-down lists or person lookups.

I have noticed that deactivating and reactivating the site collection feature on its own, without updating, will revert the template to its old version -- it deletes the template, as previously noted, and then puts the old version back on the library.
