When creating a new model, MaxLength facets are added to the entities properties that are strings. Eg if the column is nchar(10) then the property has maxlength=10.

 

But if I add new columns to the table and then update the model, and these columns also are nchar(###), there is no MaxLength facet.

 

It is my understanding that some of these facets were going to be relaxed for RTM anyway so that we would reduce some conflicts between the CSDL and SSDL.

 

What's the scoop with these MaxLengths and why the difference in results from the two wizards?

Has there been any resolution to this?  We are currently running up against this issue.  The only option we have at the moment is to iterate through the physical model based on the current conceptual model property.  Thoughts?
