We are using the VSTS subscription for managing our project and Source. Late in the project, QC team has joined and we advised them to use MTM for managing Manual testing.

While one of the tester has MTM 2012 installed and is able to connect to VSTS, the other tester has an installation of MTM 2010 and is unable to connect to VSTS using the same URL.

Can someone please advise the backward compatibility of VSTS with MTM 2010 (10.0.30319.1).

I assumed that MTM might need the SP1 and GDR patch like VS2010 for connecting to VSTS but there are no such patches available specific to MTM (but available only for Visual Studio).

MTM was included in the VS IDE setup packages, so as you said that if you use the MTM 2010, my understanding is that you have installed the VS2010, so the real issue is that whether you installed the VS2010 sp1.
