Can someone assist me in installing the ADO.NET Entity Framework.
I have installed windows XP SP2 and visual studio 2008.
I then installed .net framework 3.5 and then installed the sp 1 for the framework.
After installing sp1 I expected to have an Entity framework project available but it did not exist in visual studio.
I then downloaded the CTP 2007 3 beta (EF3BSetupX86.exe) release of the Entity Framework and installed that.
While installing it I got the following error "ADO.NET Entity Framework 1.0 (pre release version) can only be installed if Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 is installed.
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem?
Also can any provide a road map of the history of the ADO.Net Entity Framework? IE. The entity framework was released as part of the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 therefore it should be installed when SP1 is installed.
For a product that is meant to help developers concentrate on business logic by quickly creating a data access layer I am wasting a lot of time on installing the thing. Maybe Microsoft should improve the install process or make it clearer.

After you've installed .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, you should have System.Data.Entity.dll (runtime component), but it does not install visual designers - to get them you need to install full Visual Studio 2008 SP1 from:
