Is there a tool that can "round" an arbitrary corner on a path in Blend or Design? It would basically remove the sharp corner point and replace it with a pair of points with the proper curve between them to create a rounded effect. If there is no such tool, should I attempt to create an extension that would do this?

Not a specific tool as such for applying against a path... though i do like that concept and will also voice a request for it internally to MSFT folks. If you have more ideas like that, by all means shout them out and we will get them on the wish list!

When I need to do similar things, such as a rounded corner, i tackle it a few different ways depending on at what point I discover I need a rounded corner... if its at the beginging,, I will use the Rectangle tool and round its corners using Radius properties and then right click -> Path -> convert to path... then use the path tooling to modify and chop as I need to.

If its later on in the creation of a path, I will zoom hard down on the path... sometimes change my grid size to the units I need and then snap to grid when I insert a point into the path.
