In my VSTS instance, remaining hours don't get updated automatically in a work item after I have entered the completed hours. My assumption is that if a work item has an original estimate then remaining estimate should be automatically calculated as soon as one updates the completed hours. I am not sure if I am missing any settings in VSTS. Currently, I am manually updating both the completed and remaining hours in the efforts section of the work item.
