We have an Antivirus software out in the market and were wondering how to re-certify or renew our old certification to be trusted and recognized by Windows Security Center. We have found the standard certification process: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/mt637086(v=vs.85).aspx  but we are not sure this includes the trust certification we are looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for posting here.

As far as I know that the certificate consists of a data section and a signature section. The data section includes such information as:

The Distinguished Name of the entity that owns the public key

The Distinguished Name of the entity that issued the certificate

The period of time during which the certificate is valid

The public key itself.

If a CA's certificate expires that causes the certificate to be trusted, the CA can no longer provide certificate services.

Before the CA certificate expires, you can use the Certification Authority console to renew the CA to provide uninterrupted certificate services.

To use the Certification Authority console to renew a CA certificate, please following the steps below:

1.Select the CA node, and then click Action . Then click All Tasks and Stop Service to stop the CA.

2.Click Action , and then click All Tasks and Renew CA Certificate . The Renew CA Certificate dialog box appears.

3.Click Yes to generate a new key set, or click No to reuse the old key set. Then click OK .

4.Type the domain name of the server for the parent CA in the Computer Name box, or click Browse to select the server. The Parent CA  box displays the name of the CA that is running on the server computer that you have selected.

5.Click OK
